Everyone’s personal style evolves as they get older. What we wear in high school typically isn’t what we continue to wear as we enter our 20s and 30s.

However, when shopping for clothes, some things never change – like always taking your body type and lifestyle into consideration.

Although many people find that shopping becomes more difficult as they age, it doesn’t have to be that way.

With so many brands out there today offering styles in all different sizes, cuts, and lengths, there is plenty to choose from.

But to make in-store and online shopping easier for you, I’m sharing the best brands for 30-somethings for stylish yet age-appropriate clothes. And yes, I’m in my thirties!

Whether it’s for date night, a job interview, or just running errands, here are our top picks to keep you looking and feeling your best.

Where To Shop In Your 30s For Fashionable Clothing

Banana Republic

Banana Republic is one of our favorite stores because they have such a wide variety of styles.

The brand has been in the fashion industry for a long time and is well-known for its exceptional quality and classic pieces that are suitable for both casual and formal occasions.

Banana Republic’s clothing designs tend to be more on the sophisticated and professional side, which makes it a good store for professional women looking to add key pieces to their work wardrobe.

Pencil skirts, dress shirts, and board-room-appropriate mini dresses are just a few of the styles you can expect to see when browsing the site.

However, the brand also offers more casual options that are suitable for everyday wear.

Banana Republic’s clothing designs tend to appeal to adults and young professionals who are looking for classic, timeless pieces that can be worn for years to come.

Overall, Banana Republic is a good store for anyone looking for high-quality, classic, and stylish clothing that is suitable for various occasions and personal styles.

Abercrombie

Abercrombie has come a LONG WAY over the last few years. It used to be the go-to for teens to find trendy tees and surfer-esque apparel, but recently it has become the hot spot for women in their 20s and 30s.

In particular, Abercrombie jeans are the shi*. In my opinion, Abercrombie should be your first stop when searching for a new pair.

As mentioned earlier, shopping for jeans is REALLY hard. But Abercrombie now has such extensive length options and inclusive sizing that you’re almost guaranteed to find something you love.

Abercrombie jeans now come in extra short, short, regular, long, and extra long lengths, and most styles are available in sizes 23 through 37. I mean…. pretty dang good if you ask me.

And to top it off – the jeans are excellent quality. Here are the jeans I’m wearing in the pic above.

In addition to jeans though, Abercrombie also has a ton of other great pieces that are chic yet don’t make you look like your 35 trying to be 21. They just work.

From matching sets to swim coverups, outerwear, and so much more – Abercrombie is hands down a retailer you don’t want to miss.

Oh and another thing I can’t forget to mention – they have amazing sales.

So – if you gave up Abercrombie years ago because the beachy teen vibe wasn’t your jam, I highly recommend giving this retailer a second chance – it’s nothing like it used to be!

Ann Taylor

Ann Taylor uses high-quality materials in their clothing, which ensures that the clothing lasts longer and holds up well over time.

This can be especially important for women in their 30s who are looking for clothing that will last for several seasons.

For those who work in an office setting, the selection of professional attire is incredible.

Blouses, skirts, dresses, and classic black blazers that are both stylish and fitting for the workplace are just a few things you can expect to find at the retailer.

Loft

The Loft is a great destination for classic staples and cozy separates. The brand’s clothing designs are sophisticated with a modern twist, making them suitable for both work and casual wear.

Additionally, they offer a wide range of sizes including petite, tall, and plus sizes, which makes it easier for women of all body types to find clothing that fits well.

The Loft’s clothing is generally priced at a moderate level, which makes it more accessible to women who are budget-conscious but still want high quality clothing.

You can expect to find versatile pieces that can be easily mixed and matched, which makes it easy to create different outfits with just a few items.

This can be especially helpful for women in their 30s who are busy and don’t have a lot of time to spend on their wardrobe, or for those who prefer to keep a capsule wardrobe.

Everlane

Everlane offers clothing that is classic and timeless, rather than trend-driven.

This can be appealing to women in their 30s who prefer to add pieces to their wardrobe that they won’t feel the need to replace in just a year or two.

If you’re a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl like I am, you’ll love their selection of basics and elevated essentials. While there’s no age limit on graphic tees, it’s also nice to have some pieces that feel a bit more refined.

Everlane also offers a range of shoes, such as flats, loafers, and boots, that are designed to be both comfortable and stylish. T

The brand’s shoe designs are often minimalist, with a focus on clean lines and classic silhouettes.

If you need accessories to complement your looks they also have scarves, bags, and belts.

These accessories are often made from materials such as leather or recycled polyester and are designed to be both functional and stylish.

Nordstrom

Nordstrom is a great place to shop for just about anything

It’s a one-stop shop that offers items such as cocktail dresses for special occasions, investment pieces (like a leather jacket), and handbags from designer brands like Balmain, Dolce & Gabbana, & Fendi.

However, they also have a wide range of casual wear for women from brands like Free People and Steve Madden. Think skinny jeans, t-shirts, and sneakers.

I got this Free People jacket from Nordstrom last year and it’s a staple for me in the fall and spring months.

If you’re a mom to young kids like I am, Nordstrom is a great place to shop because you can find pieces that look great but are still functional enough for chasing after the kids.

I’ve been shopping at Nordstrom for years because of their wide selection but also because they have the best customer service out there.

Not to mention…. free shipping with no minimums and free return shipping is a must in my book.

Nordstrom also carries Natori, my absolute favorite brand for bras. If you keep your eye on pricing, they often have sales that Natori is included in.

Although they are on the higher-end budget-wise, they’re worth every penny because they last forever.

Nordstrom is also known for staying on top of the latest trends, but not in the fast fashion type of way.

This can include items like crop tops, statement jackets, and wide-leg pants. While not everyone in their 30s is still into crop tops, there are many of us that are!

Madewell

Every woman should have a great pair of jeans handy. It’s a closet (and classic) staple that can take you from a day of running errands to date night in no time.

Enter Madewell.

While Madewell carries clothing of all types, they’re most notably popular for their incredible line of denim.

While Madewell items are sold at other retailers such as Nordstrom, you’ll find the widest selection of styles from the Madewell site itself.

While you can certainly find super cheap jeans from stores like Old Navy, you’re not going to get the same quality.

Madewell uses a blend of cotton and elastane, which provides stretch and ensures a comfortable fit, and they’re long-lasting.

And it doesn’t matter which style of jeans you prefer, Madewell offers a range of fits for their jeans including skinny, straight, wide leg styles, and more.

The brand is known for its flattering cuts, which are designed to fit and flatter a variety of body shapes, and they offer a wide range of washes from dark indigo to light wash, as well as distressed and raw-hem styles.

& Other Stories

Want to add a touch of whimsy to your wardrobe? Check out & Other Stories.

& Other Stories is a fashion brand that offers a range of contemporary clothing for women in minimalist and bohemian styles.

Whether you prefer simple pieces with clean lines, neutral colors, and simple silhouettes or bohemian styles like flowy tops, maxi dresses, and embroidered pieces, you’re sure to find it here.

Their bohemian pieces are designed to flatter and celebrate the female form while the selection for classic pieces are great for work or occasions where you need a more polished and put-together look.

Nordstrom Rack

Nordstrom Rack is worth mentioning due to the fact that you can score some KILLER deals here. The only problem with Nordstrom Rack is that you have to check the site (or store) frequently as the stock is constantly changing.

Unlike Nordstrom, Nordstrom Rack doesn’t stock tons of pieces. Rather, they offer steep discounts on a small selection and once it’s gone, it’s gone.

However, the selection is amazing! From workout clothes to outerwear, undergarments, and everything in between, there are plenty of pieces that are perfect to add to your closet as a 30-something-year-old woman.

I always check Nordstrom Rack for Zella leggings. They are quite pricey at Nordstrom, but once they hit Nordstrom Rack you can get them super cheap!

Amazon

Ok, before you hem and haw, let me just explain. Amazon DOES have some awful sellers and poor-quality pieces. However, there are a few brands specifically that I highly recommend checking out.

For example – The Drop. The Drop is an Amazon-owned brand and is not one of the super-cheapy brands you might be used to. The pieces are high quality, on-trend, and affordable.

Whether you work in an office or you just need a great maxi dress for heading to lunch with friends, I promise you, The Drop will have something that you love.

Let’s take this blazer I’m wearing above as an example – It is nothing short of AMAZING. I got it in 2 colors and immediately went back and ordered all the rest (I’m not even kidding).

I wore this for a work conference a few months back yet I also wear it with jeans and denim cutoffs for date night. It’s just amazing.

The Drop also has evening wear, amazing shoes, and all different styles of handbags, and they’re all at really affordable prices.

Honestly, when shopping for their pieces, it’s like shopping at a department store but without the high ticket prices. It’s THAT good.

Bottom line – Don’t count out Amazon because of the cheap trendy pieces you often see being promoted. If you stick to certain brands you can snag some awesome pieces.

Anthropologie

Anthropologie is a good place for people who have a carefree approach to fashion and don’t necessarily follow trends.

While they do carry a wide range of styles, they are most known for their loose-fitting, vintage-inspired, feminine styles.

It’s important to note that Anthropologie clothing is known to be of higher quality and thus, it is reflected in their price points. You can expect to find most dresses hovering around the $150 mark (and up!)

Bonus point to Anthro because you can snag some great beauty products and knock out some home decor shopping while stocking up on closet favorites LOL!

Good American

We already went over Madewell, but another denim brand we highly recommend you consider checking out is Good American.

Good American and Madewell are quite a bit different, and depending on your personal style, you may prefer one over the other.

In recent years, Good American has BLOWN UP and personally, I love the brand.

You can read my full review HERE but all I can say is – finding good quality jeans that hug you in all the right places while also being comfortable is hard AF. However, Good American came through for me.

The stretchy fabric in Good American “Good Legs” jeans is like heaven on earth and the ultra high-rise waist is *chef’s kiss*.

You can easily wear these with a classic white sneaker or dress them up as I did with heels and a bodysuit for a night out. They’re versatile, moderately affordable, and of incredible quality.

Side note: I will never ever recommend low-rise jeans, but if you want them – they have em!

Girlfriend Collective

It’s always fun to get a new outfit for a special event, but finding great pieces for everyday looks is just as exciting.

Even though it’s comfortable wearing the same tee and joggers every day, it does get boring. Girlfriend Collective is one of my favorite places to shop when I’m looking to swap out some of my everyday pieces.

Additionally, Girlfriend Collective has a wide range of workout clothes, If you’re in the market for squat-proof leggings and sports bras supportive enough for the girls, GC is the place to be.

You can find a little bit of everything at Girlfriend Collective – sports bras, sweatsuits, dresses, and even unitards are just a few of the things you can expect to find when browsing their online store.

Reformation

For my gals that love brands with a focus on sustainable practices, check out Reformation.

Reformation is an ethical fashion brand with a commitment to providing proper work environments and using as many sustainable materials as possible in the crafting of its clothing.

Not to mention, their pieces are cute as hell

Their garments are flirty, vintage-inspired, and created to flatter the female body. Jumpsuits, wedding guest dresses, and oversized cashmere cardigans are just a few of the styles you can expect to see when browsing through their site.

Conclusion

Just because you’ve entered a new era in your life doesn’t mean you have to make a giant switch over to shopping only luxury brands.

There are many great retailers in the fashion world today that offer high-quality pieces at affordable prices for women in their 30s.

Hopefully, this post is a good starting point for you to find great clothes at an online retailer you love that works for your personality, profession, and budget.
